Year-round Events in the 41 Municipalities of Okinawa, Japan and around the World

The Okinawa International Movie Festival is an event that entertains Okinawa not just during the festival but throughout the year. Joining with locals in a variety of events including movies, comedy, music and sports, the charms of every corner of Okinawa will be presented via media throughout Japan and overseas, building momentum towards the festival opening in April.

Events throughout Okinawa Prefecture

Various film screenings and live events are held with the cooperation of the 41 Okinawa municipalities, Okinawa Prefecture, the Okinawa Convention & Visitors Bureau, and others.

41 Municipalities! Big Tour through all the Islands

A “50 Days to the Festival” Ceremony will be held on February 28 at the Naha Tenbusu Square. This will also mark the beginning of the “41 Municipalities! Big Tour through all the Islands”, traveling through all of Okinawa’s 41 municipalities.
This will involve various content, such as comedy, rakugo, music, dance, sports, and workshops. We will bring smiles and entertainment to every town. All the islands can enjoy the countdown to the movie festival.

The 50 Days to the Festival Ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 27 at Naha Tenbusu Square.
The weekend before the start of the festival, we will conduct clean-up activities around the venue together with everyone in the movie festival cooperation association, cheer squad and local community. It is scheduled to be held on Sunday, April 14 this year.
